Angola exports beer to Africa, Asia and Europe

Luanda - Angola’s Beverage Distribution Company (SODIBA) monthly collects more than USD 150,000 with the export of Luandina beer to some Asian, European and African countries.

In the market since 2016, SODIBA has established a regular export relationship in 2018 with some countries such as China (Asia), Portugal (Europe), São Tomé and Príncipe and Burkina Faso (Africa), where distributors and sales teams are available.

According to SODIBA Executive Chairman, Luís Correia, the company made the first shipments in 2018 bound for China with a total of 15 containers.

He predicted a 120 rise in the volume by the end of this year (2019), with the increase of 10 containers/month.

Luis Correia was speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the workshop on SADC Rules of Origin promoted by the General Tax Administration.

The event is part of the country's preparation for joining the Free Trade Area.

Luis Correia mentioned 17 containers as having been sent to China this year.

He said the goal is to reach 10 containers for China monthly, so that the firm reach an average of 100 to 120 containers a year.

To join Chinese market, he said, SODIBA made a marketing investment of USD 250,000.

In addition to China, the firm, whose production level stands at 16, 500 bottles of 33 centiliters per hour in three production lines, is also operating in Portugal. It sends to the European country two containers /month of beer.

At the African level, it exports a container to Sao Tome and Principe as well as Burkina Faso on a monthly basis.

Luis Correia also spoke of contacts for signing agreements in South Africa for the export of Sagres beer produced by the same company, as being in progress.

Angola, according to the source, produces 20 million hectoliters of beer/year, of which 1.5 million by SODIBA.
